About the "Set Up Wireless Network" Setting...

If your Xbox One isn't currently connected to the internet, or if you want to change wireless access points, select Set up wireless network. Selecting this button deletes any current wireless settings and prompts you to set up a new wireless device.

Xbox One doesn't save old device information, allowing you to completely wipe out old settings and start new each time. This saves you from accidental manual entries that could cause issues on a new network.

For example: You've set up your console's network connection at your house, but you're going to visit a relative and want to take your Xbox One. When you get to your new location, select Set up wireless network, select the appropriate router from the list of devices, enter the password, and connect to the network.

When you return home and plug in your Xbox One, you won't automatically connect to your network, because establishing the new connection wiped out your home router's information. So, select Set up wireless network, select your router from the device list, and enter your password. Now the previous router info has been deleted and Xbox One will remember your home device's settings.

PS4

The PS4 only remembers one network connection at a time, so to "forget" the WiFi settings, you only need to set up the WiFi again:

  1. Select Settings > Network > Set Up Internet Connection, and then follow the on-screen instructions to configure network settings.
  2. Select Use Wi-Fi, and then select Easy to view a list of available Wi-Fi networks. Select the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to, and then configure the settings.

If the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to is not found, select Set Up Manually, and then configure the settings.

Additional Considerations...

  • Connection settings will vary depending on how your network is set up and the devices that you use.
  • You might need to enter additional information, or additional settings such as the proxy server or IP address. Select [Custom] to configure these settings. Refer to the information from your Internet service provider and the instructions supplied with the network device in use.
  • When you're using an access point that supports WPS, AOSS, or Rakuraku WLAN Start®, you can save it in a few easy steps. AOSS, and Rakuraku WLAN Start® are available only in certain countries and regions.
  • On PS4™ systems that support the 5 GHz range, you can choose which Wi-Fi frequency band to use. On the Wi-Fi network selection screen, press the OPTIONS button.
